Advising Bar Information

Advising bars are placed on a student's record in order to require a student see an academic advisor prior to registration. This is done for certain populations of students because it is felt that academic advising is especially important for them, and by placing a bar, the student and the advisor can go over the student's record and discuss any issues or problems that may have arisen.

In Psychology, we feel that first-time students to the department (whether new students to the university, or transferring from another department on campus) and those students who are on academic probation, benefit most from having an advising bar placed on their record.

To clear an advising bar, you'll need to come into our office to see an advisor. You will not be able to access ROSE, the online registration system, until the bar has been removed.
