PSY 357 Do I See Us the Way You See Us? The Effect of Feedback on Romantic Relationships

Description:
In this study, we will have couples a wear a miniature digital recording device called the Electronically Activated Recorder (EAR) so that we can see how couples interact in real-world settings. We will then have the couples listen to their own EAR recordings. The goal of the project will be to determine if listening to one’s own EAR recording will: 1) change the way a person views his/her relationship; 2) change the way a person interacts with his/her significant other; and 3) helps relationships to become more healthy and satisfying by facilitating better communication and understanding between partners.
Qualifications:
Responsible, motivated students with an interest in social/personality psychology, willing to work 8-10 hours/week during the Fall 2004 semester.
Duties:
Help implement and run a large-scale study examining the nature of romantic relationships. Includes running experiments (administering the EAR), coding participants’ recorded social life, transcribing natural conversations. You will play a very important role and gain valuable experience.
