Undergraduate Research Project

Faculty:

Description:

Over the course of evolutionary history, the dissolution of long-term and short-term mating relationships would have had many unique selective consequences. We are developing a theory of the coevolution of adaptations for breaking up and adaptations for defenses against unwanted break ups. Our research examines fantasies about relationship breakup as well as actual relationship break ups. We are currently focusing on the costs and benefits of breaking up, the tactics men and women use to break up, and the psychology involved in the decision to break up.

1. A GPA of 3.3 or higher
2. Prior or concurrent enrollment in PSY 418
