Human Factors MWF 11:00-12:00 MEZ 402 Burnham
Description: This course is concerned with the design of machines, systems, workspaces, buildings, in reference to a human user's physical and mental limits, as well as his social needs, wants, goals. The class will focus on limitations of human's information processing abilities and designs that either tax or accommodate these limitations and the interrelationships between design and social behavior. Texts: To be announced. Grading and Requirements: 2 Exams: Each 1 hour. Exams 1 & 2 = 30% of grade. 4 Papers: 6 pp. Descriptive case studies = 40%. Research Paper: 12 pp. = 20%. Class Participation = 10%. Prerequisites: Psychology 301 with a grade of C or better, Psychology 418 or an equivalent statistics course with a grade of C or better, upper division standing, and six semester hours of upper division psychology.
