PSY 357 Unique 40570
Undergraduate Research
Hours to be arranged
Psychology Faculty

Counts as an upper division elective only

Description:

The major purpose of this individual instruction course is to provide an opportunity for advanced and qualified undergraduates to obtain firsthand, supervised research experience in psychology. The student will usually assist a professor with a research project by helping to prepare the study and by running subjects in the study. The student may work with a graduate student who is doing research supervised by a professor. The student should not expect to be able to conduct an experiment of his/her own.

Texts:

None.

Grading and Requirements:

A paper on the research experience in which the student participates will be required. The course grade will be determined by both research involvement and the paper. PSY 357 is offered on a Credit/Fail grade basis only.

PSY 357 may be repeated for credit. It will not count toward the hours of psychology courses required for the psychology major, but may count as elective hours toward the 120 hours required for the Liberal Arts BA degree.

Prerequisites:

Psychology 301 with a grade of C or better, completion of 30 hours of coursework, and written consent of the instructor. Consent form must be submitted in MEZ 206 before registering.
