Behavior Genetic Studies of Child & Adolescent DevelopmentFaculty:Paige Harden, Ph.D. Elliot Tucker-Drob, Ph.D. Contact:Paige Harden, Ph.D. harden@psy.utexas.edu Elliot Tucker-Drob, Ph.D. tuckerdrob@psy.utexas.edu Description:Our labs will be collaborating to establish a registry of school-age twins (ages 6 to 19) from the greater Austin area. We plan to recruit twin samples for two major lines of research: (1) Interactions between genes and social environments in risk for -- and protection from -- child and adolescent psychopathology, particularly conduct disorder, delinquency, and substance use. (2) The development of cognitive abilities, academic achievement, personality, and curricular and extracurricular interests. Research assistants may be involved in all aspects of project planning, including recruiting participants and designing protocols. Research assistants who commit to a second semester may be involved in data collection. Requirements:Research assistants must be able to commit to working 8-10 hours per week, but can set their hours to fit their course schedule. Research assistants who are fluent in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply. Research assistants who have career interests in psychology and who can commit to two semesters in the lab will be given preference. Duties:Duties will include literature searches, test and questionnaire design, participant recruitment, data collection and data entry. Research assistants will be encouraged to collaborate in the planning process and to contribute research questions.
