Professor: James Pennebaker, pennebaker@psy.utexas.edu Contact: Matthias Mehl, 471-6852, BEN 406, mehl@psy.utexas.edu Description: We are interested in how natural language in everyday conversation conveys psychological information about a person. Using new behavior/language sampling technology for field research, we are going to reconstruct a persons linguistic fingerprint from his or her daily interactions and relate it to a variety of self-reported personality characteristics, situational variables and physiological markers (e.g., blood pressure, cortisol, testosterone). Qualifications: Motivated, dependable & organized students with an interested in the social psychology of natural language.
