Heather Brister, Graduate Student Research Interests: 1) The relation between multimodal indices of reinforcement and drinking motives (biological, cognitive, behavioral, and self-report drinking motives) and the developmental trajectories from “casual” to problematic drinking (e.g., abuse, dependence, and alcohol-related problems). 2) The etiological and maintenance implications of emotional dysregulation and PTSD in inpatient substance abusers with the goal of developing and testing new treatment strategies for drug and alcohol dependence.
