Martita Lopez, Clinic Director and Associate Director of Clinical Training, Clinical Associate Professor

Martita A. Lopez received her Ph.D. from Syracuse University in 1977 and completed her internship at the Yale University School of Medicine. She was an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech until 1980, when she moved to Rush Medical College, Rush University Medical Center, in Chicago. At Rush she served as Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Training for the APA-accredited internship program. She also directed several hospital clinical programs, specializing in adults with chronic illnesses, rehabilitation psychology, and geropsychology. She has been a co-investigator for two NIH-funded grants recently, one on the effects of aerobic exercise on persons who have had a stroke, and the other on the effectiveness of a CBT insomnia treatment program for older adults who have comorbid medical illness. Recent publications have been in the areas of psychology training, effectiveness of insomnia treatments, and geropsychology research methods and practice. Selected publications:Lopez, M. (2008).
