NOTE: It is usually a good idea to meet the Liberal Arts degree requirements in the first two years, since the majority of the major and minor requirements are upper-division and cannot be taken until the Junior or Senior year. That way, if you decide to switch majors by your junior year, you will still be on track to complete the degree on time.
You can "borrow ahead" for course requirements: for example, if you earn credit by examination for your first two semesters of foreign language, you could start on the third semester level in your first semester, leaving room in your second year to work ahead on third-year lower-division requirements or electives. Conversely, if you cannot resist taking more electives in your first year, be sure to take the required courses you skip.
