Faculty:

David M. Buss, Ph.D.

Contact:

Description:

We are studying sex differences in how people come to opinions of others based on very little information. Over the summer we may be conducting an experiment to study correlations between certain physical and personality traits and the opinions they evoke in the opposite sex. We may also work on preparing audiovisual materials for follow-up experiments.

Qualifications:

Students who can devote multiple terms to our lab (either as 357 or volunteer) will be considered first. We are especially looking for students who show interest in evolutionary psychology and human mating. We need someone who will be reliable, who will show up on time, and who will follow directions. We need someone who is capable of describing the experiment to participants and walking them through the steps.

Duties:

The student’s duties will include greeting study participants, helping the researchers in conducting the actual experiment and working with the researchers in planning follow-up studies. The student may also be asked to help out by monitoring the study’s related email or credit, finding relevant journal articles, coding data, organizing data, piloting surveys or other research-related tasks.
