PSY 357 Language Development in Young Children

Description:
Assist with one or more studies exploring language development. Topics include: How infants identify the sounds and elements of events that are relevant for language; how toddlers learn word meanings; the learning of sentence structure by preschool children; cross-linguistic similarities and differences in parental input to language learning.
Qualifications:
Must be responsible. The research requires that students interact with parents and young children, so it is essential that assistants be present and on time when appointments are scheduled. This course must be taken for the whole 12-week summer session; it can not be taken for a single 6-week session.
Duties:
Assist with conducting experiments with children; also some scheduling of appointments and coding of videotaped data.
