PSY 357 The Evolutionary Psychology of Mate Value Self-Assessment

Undergraduate Research Project

Description:

How do men and women assess their value as a mating partner? We hypothesize that men and women possess sex-specific psychologies of mate value self-assessment which evolved as solutions to specific sets of adaptive problems faced by our ancestors. Research will focus on examining the information men and women use to evaluate themselves as potential long-term and short-term mates.

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
1. A GPA of 3.3 or higher
2. Prior or concurrent enrollment in PSY 418
3. Good performance in psychology coursework
4. An interest in research and/or graduate school in psychology

Duties:

Weekly reading and discussion
2. Data coding
3. Material and methods development and administration
4. Literature searches
5. Other duties as required
6. Approximately 8-10 hours/week of work
