Description:

The course is intended to introduce students to the principles of conditioning and learning and to the investigative techniques used in this area of psychology. Much of the course will deal with how discrete responses and emotions are controlled by environmental stimuli and how stimulus-response relationships are altered by experience. Research on learning and behavior involving animal and human participants will be reviewed, as well as practical applications of the principles provided by this research.

Grading and Requirements:

Exams: 2, mid-terms 45% (22.5% ea.)
Lab reports: 6 30% (5% ea.)
Final Exam: 25%

Prerequisites:

Psychology 301 with a grade of C or better, Psychology 418 or an equivalent statistics course with a grade of C or better, and upper division standing.
