Industrial Psychology TTH 9:30-11:00 GSB 2.124 Horn
Description: Behavior of individuals in the work environment. Detailed consideration of psychological characteristics of workers and supervisors will be integrated into discussion of such special topics as: (1) evaluation of performance and goal setting; (2) work related motivations (need for achievement, fear of failure, self-realization, work as escape from personal problems); (3) factors in job success and dissatisfaction (reward systems, matching worker and job, personnel decisions, role of organization); (4) individual and group differences in work place (abilities, personality, vocational preferences, sex and ethnic group differences); (5) organizational goals and changing values in work and leadership. Texts: To be announced. Grading and Requirements: Exams: There will be a mid-term and a final. Each exam will be part essay and part multiple choice. Prerequisites: Psychology 301 with a grade of C or better, Psychology 418 or an equivalent statistics course with a grade of C or better, and upper division standing.
