This class explores the ways in which people experience the world through their senses, focusing primarily on vision. We will first consider the nature of the eye and the brain. We will then move on to investigate a variety of issues in space perception, such the perception of form, pattern, distance, motion, and color. Some developmental aspects of perception will also covered. Depending upon time, and student interest, we might consider applied issues, such as the perception of art or illusions. Grading and Requirements: Exams: 3, short answer & essay 33 1/3% each Prerequisites: Psychology 301 with a grade of C or better, Psychology 418 or an equivalent statistics course with a grade of C or better, and upper division standing.
