Description:

Understand, evaluate, conduct, and communicate scientific research. Basics of research methodology and statistics. First five weeks focus on methodology, remainder focuses on descriptive and inferential statistics. Although this is not a course on computers, the use of computers is essential in the analysis and presentation of the results of experiments. We will familiarize you with a number of software applications, including Eudora, Excel, Microsoft Word, PsychInfo, StatView, and SuperANOVA.

Grading and Requirements:

Term paper: 25 points.
Mid-term paper: 20 points.
Quizzes: 13, 2 are dropped, 155 points.
Final: non-comprehensive, 50 points.

Total of 250 points:
A = 215-250 points
B = 190-214.99 points
C = 165-189.99 points
D = 140-164.99 points
F = 1-139.99 points.

Prerequisites:

Psychology 301 with a grade of C or better, Mathematics 302 or higher-level mathematics course and a major in psychology.
