Description:

In this new project, we will be investigating person perception and natural language during the initial stages of romantic attraction. To answer our research questions we will be holding several speed dating sessions. Audio of dates will be recorded and participants will fill out individual difference questionnaires about their dates after each interaction. This will be the first study to analyze the ignition of attraction using our novel methods, which, in addition to our use of the recently developed speed dating paradigm, include state of the art language analysis tools and personality measures developed by faculty sponsors James Pennebaker and Sam Gosling.

Qualifications:

Competent typist, familiar with data entry software (SPSS or Excel, whichever assistants are more comfortable with), good with people, genuinely curious about and dedicated to psychological science.

Duties:

Typing transcripts of audio recordings of speed dates, helping run participants (taking photos of participants, making sure they sign the appropriate forms, etc.), data entry (personality and demographic data), attending group meetings every two weeks, contributing ideas to the research team.
