David M. Buss, Ph.D.

Contact:

Carin Perilloux perilloux@mail.utexas.edu

Description:

Dr Buss has written a book, The Murderer Next Door, documenting his findings about homicide and homicidal ideation in America. The current project involves processing all the homicide case files electronically for archival and future research purposes.

Qualifications:

Detail-oriented, trustworthy and motivated students who are interested in evolutionary psychology, criminality or homicide. Experience with scanning and PDF-creation desired but not required.

Duties:

During Spring 2007 we hope to begin a large-scale project of converting our large collection of real homicide case files into digitized searchable documents. You will be taught how to do this and will be expected to work on this project 6-10 hours per week as indicated by the 357 guidelines. You may also be asked to assist us with other on-going research projects in our lab, as well as other general research-related tasks.
