Description:

The Texas Adoption Project was started over 30 years ago in order to uncover the nature of personality and intelligence among a group of children who were adopted at birth. We have recently completed our 3rd follow-up of these adoptees, who are now in there 30’s and 40’s. At this time we are interested in discovering what proportion of the adoptees are having psychological difficulties, given that over 30% of their biological mothers scores high in psychopathic deviancy at the time of their birth. Additionally, we are investigating the validity of using adoptive populations to inform us about the population in general (i.e., external validity).

Qualifications:

(required) Psy 418 with a B or better, upper division standing (preferred); completion or concurrent enrollment in either individual differences or behavior genetics and some knowledge of Excel and/or SPSS.

Duties:

Duties include data entry and analysis, reading of relevant articles. Assistant will be expected to participate in lab meetings and will have the option of writing a research paper of their own. We would like to have people who can be involved for more than one semester’s time, but that is not a requirement for consideration.
