Undergraduate Research Project

Faculty: Robert Josephs, Ph.D.

Email: mnewman@mail.utexas.edu
Phone: 232-2762 Office: SEA 3.414
Description:

Our lab studies the relationships between testosterone and status. Specifically, we are interested in the consequences of this relationship for social interactions and cognitive performance. I am particularly interested in the implications for 1) the performance of stereotyped groups; and 2) performance in competitive situations.

Qualifications: Prefer psychology majors, who have taken PSY 418 (or are currently enrolled). Looking for students who are very responsible, detail oriented, enthusiastic and self-motivated. Must be able to work independently.

Duties:

Run subjects, enter data, administrative tasks, meet with graduate student supervisor.

Other Information: The major purpose of this course is to provide an opportunity for advanced and qualified undergraduates to obtain firsthand supervised research experience in psychology. You should be able to commit to 8-10 hours per week during the semester. The department also requires that you write a short paper at the end of the semester.

This is great experience for graduate school, especially if you are interested in stereotyping/prejudice, cognitive performance, social psychology in general or even law or business school.

If you’re interested, please contact me to set up a meeting.
