Undergraduate Research Project

Faculty: Joseph M. Horn, Ph.D.
Contact: Jody Hendrix
Email: jhen@mail.utexas.edu
Description:

The Texas Adoption Project is a longitudinal study of adopted children that has been going on for over thirty years. Past investigations have looked at things such as the acquisition of intelligence and personality by comparing adopted children to both their biological and adoptive parents. We are entering a very exciting phase of study, for our subjects are now in their 30’s and 40’s. In addition to intelligence and personality variables, this phase will be investigating both the acquisition of and the resistance to abnormal behavior.

Qualifications: Upper-division standing, completion of Psy 418 with a B or better, and (preferably) completion (or concurrent enrollment) of either Individual Differences or Behavior Genetics.

Duties:

Coding of interviews, data entry, weekly meetings.

Other Information: Depending on the interest of the student, articles may be assigned to gain a better understanding of the breadth of the project and the fields of Individual Differences and Behavior Genetics.
