Everyday Manifestations of Personality

Undergraduate Research Project

Faculty: Sam Gosling, Ph.D.
Contact: Simine Vazire
Email: simine@mail.utexas.edu
Description:

Our lab examines how people with different personalities are different in their everyday lives. What can you learn about someone's personality from their everyday life? In the past we have looked at personality impressions based on dorm rooms, offices, personal websites, etc. Possible research topics for next semester include how personality is manifested in clothing, dorm rooms, and across contexts. Do you get the same impression of someone from looking at their cd collection as from looking at their clothes? Are these impressions accurate?

Qualifications: Motivated, responsible, & hard-working students interested in personality/social psychology.

Duties:

Aprroximately 8-10 hours/week of work, including weekly lab meetings.

Other Information: In this lab your input and ideas will be central to the research. You will have the opportunity to participate in the research process on many levels, and will gain valuable experience (great for graduate school).
