PSY 357 Undergraduate Project DescriptionsFALL 2009Affiliation, Social Relationship Quality, and Acute Stress Response and RecoveryFaculty:Robert Josephs, PhD Contact:Jacqueline Rivers rivers@mail.utexas.edu Description:This research seeks to understand the role of affiliation and friendships in coping with acute stress. We seek to extend previous research indicating that personality is an important factor in determining who recovers best from a stress in the presence or absence of affiliation. Qualifications:Research assistants should be professional, punctual, have a strong academic record, and an interest in research involving social, personality and physiological variables. RAs must be available during at least three afternoons between 2-6pm. Duties:Duties will mainly include running participants in the above study (taking physiological measurements, setting up equipment, etc), data entry, and administrative tasks (photocopying, recruiting participants, etc).
