PSY 357 Language Development in Young Children

Description:
Assist with one or more studies exploring language development. Topics include: How infants identify the elements of events that are relevant for language; how toddlers learn word meanings; the learning of sentence structure by preschool children; cross-linguistic similarities and differences in parental input to language learning; language-cognition relationships in Spanish-English bilinguals.
Qualifications:
Must be responsible. The research requires that students interact with parents and young children, so it is essential that assistants be present and on time when appointments are scheduled. A two-semester commitment is preferred, though not required.
Duties:
Assist with conducting experiments with children; also some scheduling of appointments and coding of videotaped data.
