Description:
This semester, the Bigler lab will be working on several projects relating to stereotype development and children’s understanding of race and gender. These will include the projects examining the effects of labeling on young children’s gender stereotypes and the development of ethnic identity and reactions to affirmative action in adolescents. These projects will include collecting data from children from infancy through adolescence. Most of our research is conducted in area schools, day care centers, and afterschool programs. For more information about our lab, you can visit our website, http://homepage.psy.utexas.edu/homepage/group/BiglerLAB/.
Qualifications:
We are seeking students who are enthusiastic, hard-working, and interested in this area of research. Students should be interested in working with children, as well as responsible and reliable. Students should have some weekday hours available for data collection and lab meeting. We encourage students from all racial/ethnic backgrounds to join our lab.
Duties:
Students will assist in collecting, coding, and entering data, creating stimuli, and library research. Students will also attend a weekly lab meeting and write a brief paper on their research experience.
