PSY 357 Depression prevention program for adolescents

Description:

This study compares a cognitive-behavioral group in which adolescents critically examine their thoughts and behaviors, a supportive/expressive group designed to allow adolescents to express their emotions and feelings in a supportive environment, and an assessment-only control condition.

Qualifications:

Students who can make a 2 semester commitment are preferred.  Should be able to commit to 10 hours/week, be responsible, detail-oriented, and enjoy working with people.  Must be able to work 3:30-5:30 pm at least two days per week (Monday through Thursday).

Duties:

Duties include co-facilitating prevention groups for females and/or males at risk for depression (most groups will be run at sites off campus), conducting phone screens, collecting data, recruiting and tracking participants, data entry and data management.
