Description:

The interests of the Holden Lab cover a wide range of behaviors concerning various aspects of parent-child relationships. This particular study investigates parental social cognitions -- what parents think about their children and parent-child interactions and how it affects their parenting with a tri-ethnic sample. We will have African-American, Mexican-American, and European-American subjects. Interviewers will be matched with subjects on gender and ethnicity.

Qualifications:

We are interested in interviewing female African-American, Mexican-American, and European-American research assistant candidates. All candidates should be responsible, conscientious, and hard working students who plan to attend graduate school. We require a 2-semester commitment of 10 hours per week. Basic computer skills are required.

Duties:

Each semester there are a variety of tasks, including library research, contacting potential participants, helping to collect data, interviewing parents or children, watching children, transcription and coding of video or audio tapes, entering data in the computer, etc. A 3-page paper will be required at the end of each semester.
