With the current obesity epidemic and overweight doubling in children, it is imperative to conduct preventative programs. Safe Routes to School is a program that educates children to bike and walk safely to school with the expectation that this will increase overall physical activity and serve as a prevention for excessive weight gain. I am evaluating the implementation of Safe Routes to School in Texas.
