PSY 357 The Nature of Childrens Exposure to Violence

Description:
The interests of the Holden Lab cover a wide range of behaviors concerning various aspects of parent-child relationships. This particular study investigates the different ways in which children are exposed to domestic violence do they over hear, witness, or become a victim of the violence at home.
Qualifications:
This project requires a bilingual research assistant. Specifically, we are looking for someone who is fluent in Spanish. Having Monday mornings free is also required for working on this project. We are seeking responsible, conscientious, and hard working students who plan to attend graduate school. A 2-semester commitment of 10 hours per week is required, as well as basic computer skills
Duties:
Duties specific to this project include:
- Interviewing participants at the Travis County Court House (5 min. from campus)
- Data Entry
- CPS reports
Each semester there are a variety of tasks, including library research, contacting potential participants, helping to collect data, watching children, transcription and coding of video or audio tapes, entering data in the computer, etc. A 3-page paper will be required at the end of each semester.
