Description:

This study will bring couples from the community into the lab. We will measure various personality variables and observe the way the members of the couple interact with each other. Our interest is in how these variables predict subsequent depression. Some of the individuals in the study will be vulnerable to depression, as judged by their histories of depression, and some will not.

Qualifications:

  1. Be motivated, conscientious, reliable, and excited about research in psychology.
  2. Be personable and able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
  3. Be able to commit 8-10 hours a week during certain weeks in the semester

Duties:

  1. Help with all aspects of planning and running the study.
  2. Score questionnaires and rate videotaped couple interactions
  3. Enter data onto the computer
  4. Weekly Meetings

Other Information

This is a great opportunity to learn more about research in clinical/counseling psychology and interventions that could possibly help the vast number of people who have at one point in their life been depressed. If you are interested in graduate school in psychology, this will look great on your application. Please e-mail me with your name, phone number, and brief description of your background. We’ll then set up a brief meeting.
