The Pavlovian Society of America 2007 Conference

October 5-6, 2007

Radisson Hotel, Austin, Texas

The Pavlovian Society of America will hold its 2007 meeting at the Radisson Hotel in Austin. The meeting will be sponsored by the University of Texas Department of Psychology, Institute for Neuroscience, Center for Learning and Memory, and the Imaging Research Center.

The Pavlovian Society is one of the few scientific forums that fosters the exchange of ideas among scientists studying basic learning mechanisms at behavioral, neurophysiological, and molecular levels of analysis. The meeting is usually held on the east coast, though UCLA and UC-Irvine have also hosted the meeting in recent years. The 2007 meeting will be the first for the Society in the southwest.

The program for the 2007 meeting is coming together nicely. One symposium will focus on human fMRI studies of conditioning. Another symposium will explore the distinction between associative and nonassociative learning at molecular and behavioral levels of analysis. A third symposium will explore drug conditioning and will include both human and animal research and also describe treatments for drug abuse based on conditioning principles. Steven Maier from the University of Colorado will serve as the keynote speaker. Other speakers will include Ralph Miller from SUNY-Binghamton, David Glanzman from UCLA, Randy McIntosh from the University of Toronto, Fred Helmstetter from the University of Wisconsin, Tracy Shors from Rutgers, Karen Hollis from Mount Holyoke College, Anna Rose Childress from the University of Pennsylvania, and Peter Killeen from the University of Arizona.
