Manuel Ramirez, III received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas. He has taught at California State University at Sacramento, Rice University, Pitzer College of the Claremont Colleges, The University of California at Riverside, and The University of California at Santa Cruz. He teaches courses in multicultural psychotherapy, the psychology of ethnic minority children, and adolescents, culture and mental health, and personality theory. His research and theoretical work is on cross-cultural psychology, ethnopsychology, cognitive styles, and cultural values. His current research interests are in multicultural psychotherapy, on the relationship of acculturation to mental health and family dynamics and on the relationship of multicultural orientations to life and cognitive flexibility to success in university environments. His first book co-authored with Alfredo Castaneda was published by Academic Press and is entitled, Cultural Democracy, Bicognitive Development and Education. He is also author of Psychotherapy and Counseling with Minorities published by Allyn and Bacon. His forthcoming book entitled Multicultural/Multiracial Psychology: Mestizo Perspectives in Personality and Mental Health is being published by Jason Aronson Publishers.
