I earned my Ph.D. at the University of Notre Dame. I completed my Internship at the University of Texas Counseling and Psychological Services Center. After working at Child and Family Services, I have been in private practice since 1984. My practice includes individuals, couples and families. I am what is usually called ?eclectic?; I try to find techniques that fit both the presenting problem and the client. I also teach undergraduate and graduate students at Texas State University-San Marcos.

My wife, who is Chair of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Texas State University-San Marcos (Ph.D. in Nutrition from UT Austin), and I have lived in Austin since 1978. Our son is an attorney (UT Law). I enjoy gardening, cooking and eating, talking, sports (especially baseball), teaching and supervising grad students.
