Nicole photoNICOLE FOSSOS, BS.
GRADUATE STUDENT

Nicole Fossos received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Washington in 2005. As an undergraduate research assistant, Nicole worked with Dr. Debra Kaysen in the Center for the Study of Health and Risk Behaviors (CSHRB) on a research study examining the course of PTSD symptoms and substance use among a community sample of women who had recently experienced a sexual or physical assault.

Upon graduating from the UW, Nicole obtained a research coordinator position in the CSHRB with Drs. Clayton Neighbors and Debra Kaysen on studies examining health and risk behaviors in college populations. While in the CSHRB, Nicole developed several research papers and presentations examining intimate partner violence and alcohol use among college students.

Nicole recently began her coursework at the University of Texas at Austin and joined the SAHARA lab in August of 2008. She hopes to gain more experience working in the area of health and risk behaviors among young adults. Her primary research interest remains in the area of violence victimization and perpetration and their associations with alcohol in young adult populations. Nicole hopes to one day obtain an academic position to continue working in these research areas in addition to teaching and conducting clinical work.
