Research Interests: alcohol use and abuse, cognitive processes in risk-taking behavior, and the prevention of alcohol abuse as associated with negative consequences.

Research Interests: 1) The relation between emotion dysregulation and problematic drinking; empirically testing emotion regulation skills training as a brief intervention for collegiate heavy drinking.  2) Intra-personal factors including drinking motives and personality traits associated with heavy drinking, alcohol-related consequences, and treatment-seeking among college students with problematic alcohol use.  3) Etiological and maintaining factors of emotional dysregulation among inpatient substance abusers with co-morbid diagnoses of PTSD; developing and testing new empirically supported treatments for drug and alcohol dependence.
