In 1993 the City of Austin unveiled a bronze statue of musician Stevie Ray Vaughan, on the shores of Town Lake. Commissioned by the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Fund, the site was designed by sculptor Ralph Helmick, and Tom Randall, a landscape architect. On the anniversary of Stevie Ray Vaughan's birth and death fans often leave floral tributes and notes of remembrance at the base of the statue, which is located just west of the Gazebo and 1st Street bridge near the shore of Town Lake.
